Destructive Squirrels?

The last couple of days we have asked ourselves a question:
"Did the squirrels break their feeder or did something else?"

We found it this way Saturday morning. After helping mom on Saturday I fixed it and refilled it. We have only seen squirrels and the occasional bird on the feeder. We can't watch it all day though. It just seems to me like they wouldn't have been able to do this damage. I have no idea what would have gotten up there and done it though.

Unless my eyes deceive me 'n that thing is really made of balsa wood 'n a smatterin' of Elmer's Glue (which I highly doubt), I kinda doubt poor lil' innocent squirrels would do all that. But hey, ya never know! In any event, here's a lil' known fact for ya - here in The Bowels we have mostly black squirrels, of course. Why would there be anything ELSE?

Baron, I haven't seen any Raccoons near here but we do have a Possum. It wouldn't surprise me though if there was a Raccoon raiding the Squirrel food.

It's amazing the destructive power of squirrels! The one in our yard cost us about $1000 in car repairs (he or she chewed the transmission wiring harnesses of both of our cars. The mechanics found the evidence - broken walnut shells on top of the battery mount on our minivan! We can laugh about it now.
